Samsung - Out of the box

Industrial design - Samsung x Deezen design contest

Interior designer Lauren McGrady and I entered the “Out of the box” global contest launched by Samsung and Dezeen. The brief consisted of repurposing Samsung’s tv box to create a household object, extending the lifespan of the packaging in an effort to raise environmental awareness.

“I wish my kids had a place to draw and study at home while we’re watching tv“

We created a desk that encourages children to explore both their right and left brain. It allows for practicality in completing their homework but also encourages them to be wild and creative in their free time without their parents having to worry about the destruction of precious furniture. Kids can sit and practice their cursive on wide-ruled paper or stand up and get crazy with a paint brush on the easel feature added as a nod to the versatility of the Serif TV designed for Samsung by the Bouroullec brothers. The design was created utilizing majority of the box and consists of simple assembly steps that leave the aesthetics un-compromised.
